OpenACS Dev Forum Summary: 26/09 - 01/10

(Note: Dev Forum summaries are normally made on Fridays, with incidental in-between-updates if I feel the need for that. Focus will be on issues that potentially have an effect on the toolkit as a whole and things that look like they go the wrong way. Comments on editorial style welcomed.  If you really want everything, read the whole forum yourself.)

Significant issues:

* Jade has started a thread to discuss how we can integrate the calendar functionality more into the toolkit. General direction is to make it more generic such that any "event-like" item can appear in a calendar view, without having to be part of the calendar datamodel. See https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=203397 for the details.

* Jade posts a reminder to tag your packages so that the updated versions actually end up in the repository. See https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=203534

* Roberto questions the necessity for a toggle-switch that let one disable the caching of ad_proc/ad_library documentation, arguing that on a typical install this would save around 1.7MB cache-space. See https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=203543

Looking for help (and not getting it):

* 5 unanswered post, 4 of which are from october 1st, so I let them be for now.
* 1 is probably a bit OT (unable to start oracle, https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=203462), perhaps someone can point him a more relevant ng?

Lingering bugs:

There are currently 20 CRITICAL bugs, 12 of which are marked URGENT - most of them haven't seen any attention in over a month. Part of the problem is the maintainership (of lack thereof). I've posted a proposal for dealing with this situation see https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=203642
