Forum OpenACS Improvement Proposals (TIPs): TIP #115 (IMPLEMENTED): HTML 4.01 Strict

This is a proposal to use HTML Strict instead of Transitional. HTML strict includes (quoting w3.org):

mechanisms for style sheets, scripting, embedding objects, improved support for right to left and mixed direction text, and enhancements to forms for improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

and also

excludes the presentation attributes and elements that W3C expects to phase out as support for style sheets matures.

I think it's a necessary step for the accesibility work that has started with Zen, and also for the upcoming one on theming.

I have the slight feeling if we ask for this in 5.4 we will have a longer delay. Otherwise I am fine with it. Who would do the work of testing and checking the compliance along with fixing it?

Hi Malte,

I don't think it will take that long for core (it will for .LRN).

UNED (Adenu group) will do the work.

Today I started to work on this and it won't take me long. I think I'll be done by the end of the week.
