Forum OpenACS Q&A: Updating Localization vice-versa?

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if it is a possibility to let OpenACS also update the localization files from CVS or even better the translation server (http://translate.openacs.org/). How can I keep my locale files always updated?

Greetings,
Nima

One crazy thought:
Imagine we allow a feature that synchronizes local locale files with the translation server (on demand of course). So every installation could serve as a translation server that send the translations to the main one. A version control would be needed though to allow the user to choose which translation is best fitting.

Pro.: Usually most translation is done on the local installation. It is up to the motivation of the user if he/she the time to redo that for the translation server. This way the translation could be done as a side product of the daily work.

Also the translation work is spread among may shoulders.

Cons: Versioning, danger of overwriting or spreading local slangs.
