Don, I don't know if PGDATA/database was there. Shouldn't it be deleted when you did a dropdb?

I noticed I didn't build PG with readline so that was the excuse I needed to rebuild it, this time without unicode.

Rebuilt it and it loaded right. I am not 100% sure the problem was with unicode but it went away. Thanks for the help tho.
