Forum OpenACS Q&A: Enabling database-backup

Greetings,

Sorry if I am being dense.  I note in the latest 5.1 there is a new directory called 'database-backup'.  Does that imply that there is some sort of automatic pg_dump facility available now?  How do I enable it?

There is a backup script you can run. I believe this is in the documentation. It's a nice script, so check it out. There's also uptime monitoring (keepalive) -- very nice.

CR,

Check the backup script carefully. There are some typos.

Customize it for your service name/location. The script will (if I recall) dump your DB, tar your service directory (including DB dump), and copy it off to an external machine, naming the tar uniquely by service name and date. It performs a periodic full backup and daily incrementals (of course the DB is full daily dump).
