I converted a subsite to use the layout-manager and run the wizard to build a sample home page with a few includelets.

Now, even if I set the IndexRedirectUrl parameter to an arbitrary url, I get the new sample home page instead.

Is there a way to force the subsite to respect the IndexRedirectUrl setting?

Or, more radically, is there a way to revert the subsite to its 'normal' state?

Answering myself: putting an index file into the root folder solves the problem
