Forum OpenACS Q&A: Uptime Monitoring

Collapse

Hi,

Do we know who manages the uptime service at http://uptime.openacs.org/ these days?

I had a server drop out with a routing issue on Wednesday and the uptime monitor didn't alert me. I checked the uptime site and the connection seems very temperamental. I'm not sure that its working properly.

Steve,

Seems to be Solution Grove:

mailto:uptime@solutiongrove.com

I guess therefore two good points of contact (besides the above) would be Caroline Meeks or Dave Bauer.

Regards
Richard

Hi,

I thought I replied here!

Thanks for the notice.

We fixed the uptime server when we saw this and it should be more reliable now.

Thanks for the replies.

The uptime server is much more stable now but its still not monitoring our site.

In fact I grep'd back over the access logs and it seems to have gone off air at 17:05 on the 27th Nov last year. Here is the last access log entry for the test:

206.192.23.185 - - [27/Nov/2011:17:05:45 +0000] "GET /SYSTEM/dbtest.tcl HTTP/1.0" 200 7 "" "AOLserver-Tcl/4.5" -

Is there any way to test whether the service is still actively pinging sites? Is it working for anyone else?

I'm afraid not. The site seems to be up, but the service is not reaching our servers. The last time it did reach our servers was November 27th, just like the previous poster.

I was about to say the same. I've been laid up with Man Flu (or possibly Manthrax). But when I checked yesterday I still cannot see any entries in our access logs on any of the servers.

I've tried re-adding the server in case that triggers it but no joy.

Ok it is monitoring now, and I am monitoring that!

Its supposed to email me if there are any problem but that was not happening. Still checking it out.

Yes I can see the pings now and removing the test file triggered an uptime email.

:o)

Thanks

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" as the Romans would say.

Still nothing. I'm switching to an alternative. Too bad, I've been using this service for years.
