In old forum posts it can be read some discussions about a package to manage bibliography. Here is the post:

Is this package developed? Is there something similar?
I have installed the bookshelf package, but it's limited to books. I would like to manage entries for any kind of papers and publications. In the long term, it is possible to develop a package for this purpose, but it is better to search before for already developed code :P
